IoT Forum: Logistics 4.0

IoT Forum: Logistics 4.0

IoT Forum meets in September to dive into Logistics 4.0 and the innovations revolutionizing supply chain management and process optimization, along with the role analytics plays to transform data into actionable insights, maximizing business performance.

It is no secret that sensors and connectivity have the potential to revolutionize logistics. This market is expected to grow to almost 10B in the next 2 years, with 25% of that revenue going to startups - leaving a lot of room for startups and new technologies to be part of smart supply chain solutions. Many of the innovations expected to redefine next-generation logistics like IoT, AI, positioning, and automation, not only improve logistics transportation, but also inventory optimization, loss prevention, spoilage, predictive supply, and warehousing.

IoT in Logistics 4.0 is expanding on previous successes, and adding in more sensor data to assist with newer objectives such as:

  • reduction in shrinkage, loss, piracy, and theft
  • temperature control, reduced spoilage of cold-chain goods
  • differentiated services among units of various value or importance
  • greater frequency of data recording, transmission
  • more sensors for more data, such as cams, temperature, light, velocity, pressure, motion, shocks, location
  • new connectivity types, such as mesh, 5G, GEO, LEO

According to DHL, the global connected logistics market is estimated to grow to $27 billion at a CAGR of 7.6% through 2023. Our meeting will introduce the opportunities and challenges around innovating and participating in this growing market, and we will discover some of the startups and technologies that will lead the way.
