The Connected Home is a concept that has made steady strides over the last 5 years. TelcoTV and OnDemand cable were a catalysts for enriching the range of services that travelled over the broadband IP pipe, and as service providers struggled with how to distribute IP video around a home, they also considered what other services could ride on this home network. These projects are now realized within the Connected Home, and the result is a much smarter abode, with energy-effiency, greater comfort, security, media and information services.
The Smart Connected Home can now leverage a few mature connection protocols: n Wi-Fi, Ethernet, MoCa, HPNA, Powerline, Z-Wave, Bluetooth, and ZigBee solving the connectivity issues around earlier versions and B and G Wi-Fi. Service bundles have been built that layer on top of the classic Quadruple-Play with cameras, motion detection, "First Alert" crisis alarms, health monitors, streaming media, newsfeeds, HVAC controls, lighting controls, door lock access, and more.
The Smart Connected Home also has shifted with the times, and is no longer seen as just a "fixed telecom" opportunity, but in fact mobility is playing an important role:
Today's Smart Connected Home is the fulfillment of all the promises of 5 years ago, but so much more. The parallel trends of mobility, smart devices, cloud, and gamification have all increased the progress made in this sector, and the Telecom Council promises you it is worth another look. Join us as we network, discuss and learn what's new.
CALL FOR DEMOS - We will have a few 5-minute rapid fire demo opportunities (available for free, for startups that fit in this space), and demo tables during networking breaks. If you’d like to stir up interest from companies involved with Smart Connected Homes, please add the rapid fire and/or demo table option when you register.
