IoT Innovation Review & Roundtable on Manufacturing and Automation

IoT Innovation Review & Roundtable on Manufacturing and Automation

The IoT Forum September Member meeting is focused on discovering innovation, exchanging knowledge, growing professional networks, and above all building partnerships across the entire IoT ecosystem. Non-members interested in this month's Roundtable, seats may be available here.

MONTHLY INNOVATION REVIEW
This month members review 8 startups and new products from across a wide spectrum of Internet connected technologies. Pitches and demos are punctuated with introductions, networking, and browsing demo tables.  See the Agenda for details on which technologies and product segments will be introduced on this agenda.

  • Startup Review Session: 4 young companies introduce their new technologies, products, and ideas to IoT Forum members
  • New Product Introductions: 3 established companies introduce new, ready-to-buy, IoT products and services
  • Customer Case Study: A fireside chat with an IoT solution company and their customer who talk about the deployment, the service, and how/why they work together.

After a morning of startup and product introductions, we dive into a discussion on IoT in manufacturing and automation over lunch with some invested guests and experts.

ROUNDTABLE ON MANUFACTURING & AUTOMATION
Hot off the heels of the Sensors Expo in San Jose, one of the key takeaways is that the IoT space is hot in industrial and manufacturing sectors. These companies already have the ERP systems in place to take advantage of the additional data provided by IoT sensors, so it's a fast-track to positive ROI.

IIoT is the driving technology behind the Fourth Wave of the Industrial Revolution.

From the first connected device to a multi-layered network of sensors, analytics, AI, and visual reports, and actuators to react to decisions, connected "Things" are being deployed in industry. Together they are helping drive the 4th Wave of the Industrial Revolution, where real-time intelligence enhances productivity, cuts waste, and improves impact on the environment.

Industries are using IoT to:

  • measure and manage inputs
  • operations
  • spoilage
  • theft
  • environmental conditions
  • customer demand
  • orders
  • provisioning
  • production
  • maintenance
  • logistics
  • shipping
  • and more...

The number of potential use cases in industries beyond manufacturing is also vast - with deployments in predictive and remote maintenance, smart metering and smart grid, connected logistics, warehousing, distribution centers, freight, oil and gas, health and medical, to name but a few! Add AI to the equation and the need for human intervention could be eradicated.

Our guests from the manufacturing segment will share their thoughts on the opportunities for IoT in automation. Then, we will get their insight on what buyers need - from connectivity and devices to analytics and cloud services.
